Meet the Author
Born and raised in the winding streets of Istanbul's Fatih district, Yunus grew up surrounded by the aromas of slow-cooked stews, wood-fired bread, and spice markets that stretched back centuries. His grandmother's kitchen was his first school — a place where recipes were never written down, only felt and remembered.
After years of traveling across Anatolia — from the highlands of Erzurum to the olive groves of Hatay — Yunus witnessed firsthand how ancient culinary traditions were quietly fading. Elderly cooks carried recipes in their memories that no cookbook had ever captured. He made it his mission to change that.
Through yunus-tunc, he documents these disappearing regional recipes with the care of an archivist and the warmth of a storyteller — so that every dish finds its place in history before it is lost to time.
